Make a Gymnast Baton Inspired by Simone Biles
Simone Biles is proof that when you love yourself and embrace the things that make you happy, the sky’s the limit. Introduce kids to Biles's life and accomplishements with a fun craft that celebrates movement and joy!
Simone Biles is an American gymnastics champion who’s won more medals than anyone else in the history of the sport. She is known for landing skills that have never been done before — she even has four signature gymnastics moves named after her!
When she was 9, Simone Biles learned that she had ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), which made it hard for her to concentrate in class, but she showed the world that learning differences can be a source of strength. At age 24, Biles made headlines during the 2021 Tokyo Olympics by taking a stand for her own mental health and the mental health of her teammates and fellow athletes, saying, "I have to do what’s right for me and focus on my mental health and not jeopardize my health and well-being."
Simone Biles is proof that when you love yourself and embrace the things that make you happy, there's no limit to what you can achieve, which makes her a terrific role model for kids (and adults, too!). Introduce kids to her backstory and encourage them to move, dream, and jump for joy with this easy craft.
