How to Make a DIY Glowing Hot Air Balloon

Twinkling fairy lights give this balloon its magical glow! It's a fun craft to do with kids that does triple duty: DIY project, cool light-up toy, and nifty nightlight!

Supplies You'll Need:

A paper lantern
-
Assorted markers
-
A set of battery-operated fairy lights
-
Washi tape or any patterned tape
-
4 paper straws
-
Scissors
-
A take-out container
-
Glue dots

1. Lay the lantern flat and use markers to decorate both sides.

2. Wrap fairy lights around the metal frame that goes inside the paper lantern.

3. Gently expand the paper lantern and insert the wire with the battery pack on top.

4. Secure the wire by locking it in on both sides at the top of the lantern.

5. Cut the flaps off a take-out container to create a basket.

6. Decorate the take-out container with markers and patterned tape.

7. Use glue dots to secure a straw on each corner of your basket.

8. Cut each straw at an angle on top to create a nest for the paper lantern.

9. Add a glue dot to the top of each straw and attach the paper lantern.
