We all have special gifts ... some more unique than others! Craft these silly award ribbons to recognize extra-awesome personalities and achievements — from biggest dreamer to best dog-belly-rubber.

What You’ll Need

  • Colored paper (copy paper weight is best)

  • Small rubber bands (loom bands or small plastic hair bands)

  • Tacky glue or hot glue

  • Clothespins

  • Scissors

  • Pen or markers

  • Small letter stamps (optional)

  • Pin backs

1. Print out the award ribbon template — each print-out will yield 2 ribbons. Cut the paper in half to make two long vertical strips. Accordion fold one piece, using the lines as guides.

2. Wrap a rubber band around the center of the folded paper.

3. Bend the accordion-folded paper in half at the rubber band so that the edges meet. Apply a line of glue to the edge of the paper so that it sticks, and use a clothespin to hold the glued edges together until dry. Repeat on the other side.

4. Cut two strips of paper, each about 3 inches long. Cut a triangle out of the bottom of each (to give it a ribbon look), and glue the other ends to the back of the accordion folded circle.

5. Draw an oval, rectangle, or bubble on matching paper. Make sure the shape will fit within the accordion folded circle. Draw the pointer towards one corner of the shape. Cut it out. On the reverse side (no pencil marks!), use letter stamps or a pen to write the award text. Add any additional decorative elements that you’d like!

6. Glue pinback to the back of your ribbon, and get ready to bestow your silly awards on your most silly-award-winning friends.
