Sometimes you need a day to just relax. What better way to do that than with an at-home spa day? To achieve peak relaxation, you’re going to want to make sure you touch on all of the most zen activities. We’re talking nails, face masks, and simple snacks. By the end of the day, you’ll feel as light as a feather and super stress-free.
Set the Mood
First things first, you’ll want to gather all your spa supplies and set the mood of your living room — sorry, spa room.
Give each spa-goer a “spa kit” so they will have everything that they will need to fully relax and enjoy the day. Fill each kit with a small personal towel, flip flops, a stretchy cloth headband to keep hair off the face, a small mirror, and a robe.
Next, you’ll want to give your room a little spa makeover. To make your home spa extra zen, dim the lights, light a few scented candles, and hit play on this spa day playlist. Set up a few pitchers with fruit-flavored water, and write up a spa menu with food options for the day on a chalkboard or piece of paper.
Finally, it’s time to set up a few spa stations with soothing, relaxing, and beautifying options to help everybody in the fam bliss out. People can rotate through the stations together at the same time, or take turns using one station at a time.
Station 1: Nails
Set up a collection of your best nail polish colors and let everyone choose their own shade. Since spa day is at home, normal manicure rules don’t really apply here. Pick as many colors as you would like or create an ombré effect with different shades of the same color. This 5-piece set from Nailmatic is packed with shiny, go-with-everything shades.
To complete the nail station, fill it with all of the accessories needed for a great manicure and pedicure. Fill a bowl with warm water and scented soak for your feet, set out lotion and exfoliating scrub, and even pile up some hot towels fresh from the dryer. You can even let everyone sit in comfy chairs while you switch off doing each other’s nails. If you want to bring your manicure to the next level, add a glitter topcoat or even go for a cool stamp design.
Station 2: Face Scrubs and Masks
This station is all about giving your face that smooth, glowy, I-just-took-a-nap-on-a-unicorn radiance. A premade scrub and face mask combo is one way to go: There are many great options for clay masks, peel-off masks, and fun sheet masks.
If you want to take your relaxation to the next level, you can make your own face scrub and face masks. Most face scrubs and masks can be made with materials you already have in your house, like honey, oatmeal, and coconut oil.
This oatmeal honey face mask will leave your face feeling fresh and only requires four ingredients to make. If honey isn’t your thing check out this combo face scrub and mask made with energizing coffee. Both masks will leave you feeling rejuvenated and relaxed. Don’t forget the cucumber slices for your eyes!
Station 3: Spa Food
All this pampering is bound to make you hungry. You’ll want to prep some spa day snacks the night before (or the morning of) so as not to interrupt your relaxy zen-times. Some ideas for great spa day foods include smoothies, fruit kabobs, or even some finger sandwiches. Try to avoid anything super messy: After all, you won’t want to mess up those freshly painted nails!

Station 4: Meditation Time
With your stomachs full, take a minute to sit back and relax with a simple meditation. Set up a meditation station with a few yoga mats or blankets and give everyone some personal space. Then hit play on this relaxing kids’ meditation playlist or check out this guided meditation. While the meditation is guided towards younger kids, it’s soothing for anyone, no matter their age.
Station 5: DIY Spa Crafts
Ruffles and Rainboots
Don’t you wish every day could be spa day? This spa crafts station lets you hold on to a little bit of that spa day vibe to chill out your everyday routine. Sugar scrubs like this mermaid foot scrub or this pink sugar body scrub will make your skin stay smooth and are pretty simple to put together — plus, you probably already have most of the ingredients at home.
Want to create your own signature scrub? Use the same base of sugar and coconut oil and just add in the essential oils of your choice. Feel free to add in colored sprinkles to give it your own custom look. When it’s done, store it in a jar and add your own custom label. These DIY scrubs are a quick way to get a little bit of spa energy in an otherwise busy day: Just lift the lid and breathe...deeply...
