There's so much to celebrate during the month of April: Our days are brighter, warmer, and filled with an undeniable energy and excitement in the first full month of spring. It's a great time to celebrate new beginnings — and a new trip around the sun for you! April is not only an exciting time to be born, but according to science, it also means you have a special set of talents up your sleeve. Several studies suggest that the month in which you are born could determine your career path or personality traits, and boy, did April kids hit the jackpot! Find out what your birth month says about you and what your future could have in store!
1. April kids are FULL OF POTENTIAL
People born during other months of the year tend to be associated with certain career paths: for example, January is a big month for doctors, February is loaded with artists, and March is when many pilots are born. Interestingly though, that isn't the case for April kids. According to the U.K.'s Office for National Statistics, there doesn't appear to be a pattern in the career paths taken by April-born people, suggesting those born during the month of April find success in a wide spectrum of professions. The career opportunities for April kids are endless. Dream big, kiddos!
2. April kids are LEADERS
Get ready to climb that corporate ladder because you're heading all the way to the very top! A study of 375 S&P 500 companies found that the highest number of CEOs were made up of people born in April (and March). March kids take the lead, making up for 12.53% of CEOs, but we'll quite happily keep them company in close second at 10.67%.
3. April kids are HEALTHY
Those born during the month of April are less likely to be affected by cardiovascular, neurological, respiratory, and reproductive diseases. A massive study conducted by Columbia University in 2015 looked at 1,749,400 individuals, and found April kids, along with those born in February, March, and July, tended to be at the lowest risk of disease. Phew!
4. April kids are STRONG
In other health-related news, the same 2015 study found that spring babies were at lower risk of asthma (*breathes a collective sigh*). It turns out that early exposure to springtime pollen and dust mites during infancy actually strengthens your immune system — go figure!
5. April kids are OPTIMISTS
We all have a spring in our step during, well, spring — could that perhaps be the reason why April kids tend to look on the bright side of life? A 2014 study from the U.K. does suggest people born during March, April, and May (coincidence?) score highly on the hyperthymia scale. In other words, spring-born kids were found to have a general optimism that allows them to see past the bad and look forward to the good.
6. April kids are a little bit REGAL
Perhaps this month, you should trade your party hat for a crown? Sharing your birth month with Her Majesty The Queen certainly calls for some royal treatment in our books! However, Queen Elizabeth II, who turns 95 on April 21, isn't the only one blowing out their birthday candles. The likes of Eddie Murphy, William Shakespeare, and Jennifer Garner also have April birthdays, so let's just say you're in good company!
7. April kids are NIGHT OWLS
Brace yourself for some sleepless nights! A study in the journal Sleep found spring (and summer) babies go to bed much later than their fall and winter pals.
8. April kids stand TALL
An Austrian study found that those born during the month of April tend to be taller than their peers! Anthropologist Gerhard Weber analyzed the Austrian Federal Army measurements of more than half a million men and found the tallest recruits were born in April and the shortest in October. Could a modeling career be in the cards? Only time will tell!
9. April kids are born during the FUNNIEST MONTH
10. April kids are LUCKY
According to a study from the University of Exeter, most first-time moms in the U.S. wish for a spring delivery! In fact, the study found that "if it were possible to pay to guarantee a spring birth, on average, a married woman between the ages 20-45 would be willing to part with $877 to achieve it." Luckily for you, April babies, you arrived into the world on a perfect spring day!
