It's the spookiest time of year, which means it's also time to draw the curtains, turn off the lights, and get the popcorn ready to watch a Halloween movie everyone will love! Figuring out the right level of spookiness the little ones can handle can be something of a challenge. Often this means playing it safe by resorting to the same line-up of movies everyone has watched for the umpteenth time. But fear not — our round-up of kid-friendly movies will help you switch up your Halloween movie line-up!

Rated PG-13, this Disney remake is perfect for older kids, now available to stream on Disney+.

The Addams Family

Super Monsters Save Halloween

For the littlest Halloween goblins, Super Monsters Save Halloween is a great way to get preschoolers in on the Halloween fun while reminding them that the holiday's scares are all make-believe. Characters reveal the tricks behind haunted houses and scary decorations, so they don't seem quite as scary anymore. Watch the half-hour special on Netflix.

Room on the Broom

Room of the Broom is a half-hour TV movie adaption of the children's book by Julia Donaldson, is about a witch who is anything but scary. We've covered ghosts and witches, but you can't leave out the zombies — it's Halloween! In ParaNorman, an army of zombies invade a small town, and it's up to a small boy who has a knack for seeing and speaking to the dead to save the day and end the town's centuries-old curse. Created by the makers of Caroline, everyone (ages six and above) will want to watch this magically thrilling adventure, available to stream on Netflix.

Monster House

While typical Halloween movies will tell you the story about an abandoned house haunted by ghosts or some supernatural phenomenon, in Monster House, let's just say the animation doesn't exactly stick to the script. It tells the story of three friends who, to their horror, discover a house in their neighborhood that has a personality of its own and seems to enjoy eating people...but there's more to the story! Don't miss this spooky flick just right for tweens available to stream on Netflix.
