Throughout January, Camp and VISIT FLORIDA are teaming up to send an intrepid Camp Counselor to some of Florida’s best spots for virtual sightseeing expeditions. We call it Travel Tuesdays, and we kicked it off with an out-of-this-world adventure to the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Fla.

We’re cruising down to Daytona International Speedway, home of the Daytona 500, the most prestigious race in NASCAR, for our next pit stop. Buckle up, and we’ll race you as we explore the track and learn about motorsports’ history in America.

Buckle Up for a Ride Around the Racetrack

Brian Cleary for VISIT FLORIDA

Dream of becoming a race car driver? Meet the pros and see how it feels to speed around the track with a NASCAR ride-along tour. For the little thrill-seeker, this memorable experience lets kids suit up and slide into the passenger seat of a 600HP NASCAR race car for a joy ride around the track. The thrilling three-lap ride lasts between 30 and 50 minutes, during which kids will reach speeds of 120 mph (193 kph), so buckle up!

Gear Up for a Virtual Tour of the Daytona International Speedway

VISIT FLORIDA

Discover what makes Daytona International Speedway the “world center of racing” with an all-access tour of the Speedway Track. Learn how the track became ground zero for motorsports and then head into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America to meet the fastest drivers of all time, including every driver who's won the DAYTONA 500. Access to the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America is included as part of each Daytona International Speedway tour.

Warm-Up for the Season With Scout Days at Daytona

VISIT FLORIDA

Pack your bags (and tents) for Scout Days 2021 (Jan 22-24th) and join thousands of boy scouts and girl scouts for a two-day campout at Daytona. Camp in the infield and discover the Speedway through experiences like garage tours, a track walk, movie nights, and more. Get a first-hand look at the super-fast sports cars as they test the course for the upcoming season and maybe even meet a driver!

Fasten Your Seatbelt for a Real Trip Down to Daytona

VISIT FLORIDA

Ready to cruise down to Daytona? Many airlines offer direct flights into Daytona Beach International Airport, with hundreds more offering connections. If you prefer to practice your driving before you hit the track, Daytona Beach is located between two of the state’s major interstates — Interstate 95, which runs north and south, and Interstate 4, which comes in from the west.

While you’re in the area, you can fill your itinerary with some wonderful places to stay, eat, and have fun with your family.
