Each year, the Daytona International Speedway, home of the Daytona 500, slows down the pace and spreads some holiday cheer.

The Magic of Lights, from Nov. 13 through Jan. 2, is a mile and a half loop along the famous race track through more than 1 million lights, LED displays, and digital animations.

Instead of zooming around at record speeds, visitors admire the lights at their own pace as they drive through themed sections including 12 Days of Christmas, 200-foot Candy Cane Lane, and the Snowflake Forest.

For just $25 per car, you get a General Admission ticket that allows you and the entire family to drive through at any date. (Pro tip: On most Wednesdays you can drive through twice with the same ticket.) Daytona is about an hour from both Orlando (home of you-know-what) and Cape Canaveral (home of NASA’s Kennedy Space Center), so it’s the perfect festive addition to any winter adventure. The speedway is open from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. most nights (check the website for any variations or dark nights).
