By Emily Levitt CAMP Counselor (and Brooklyn-based mom of two)
This summer marks year two of my daughter's Gabby's Dollhouse obsession and it doesn’t show any signs of slowing down.
Gabby and friends have been go-tos for our Halloween costumes, there are mini plastic Gabby cats turning up in my pockets and bags at all times, and “Gabby” is one of five words in my 1.5 year old son’s vocabulary. We’re all hooked, and I know we aren't the only ones keeping snackies in our packies and singing "Whoopsies" multiple times a day.
Have a kid in your life who’s equally obsessed? When your fam is this deep into fandom you learn a thing or two about which Gabby’s toys have that unboxing wow factor AND true staying power. I’m excited to share our favorites with you!
Here are the top four Gabby’s products that have earned Scout’s seal of approval:
The Dollhouse Shop Here
This dollhouse provides truly endless play value (it even serves as a place for our 6-year-old to hide her tiny treasures.) IMHO it’s a perfect hero present for a birthday or a holiday. Mom or Dad can deliver the "WOW" gift of the big house, and friends and family can supplement with these super cool add-rooms that extend the fun. You look like the hero, and everyone else has an easier time finding a gift your kiddo will love!
Gabby's Lego Sets Shop Here
Getting your kids into Lego is one of the great strategic parenting moves. It’s a reliable way of getting them focused and driving creativity, and, miraculously, it can ensure quiet, independent play for 20 minutes or more at a time. These Gabby’s sets are super fun to build, aged correctly, and are a great on-ramp to Lego if you haven't gone down that rabbit hole yet!
The Gabby Dollhouse Party Bus Shop Here
We love DJ Catnip and this little guy parties all over the house. The Party Bus is a mini-dollhouse and a van in one, and I’m amazed by how much time our 1.5 year old will spend trying to see which figurines he can fit in the driver's seat. It’s fun to transform, multi-use, and still going strong on play value and construction quality after over a year.
VTech Gabby's Dollhouse A-Meow-Zing Phone Shop Here
It's got games! You can throw it in your bag! It's perfect to keep in the backseat of your car! This is the kind of toy I have a love/hate relationship with (I am human, after all, and toys that make noise can be tough) but my kids couldn’t love it any more. There’s also a nostalgia factor for the Millennial parent as it harkens back to the simple Gameboy experience of my own youth. It’s the perfect gift for grandparents or the fun aunt to bestow upon your child—that’s how ours arrived, and has remained persistently in the mix for many many months now.
